When a 2- and/or 4-stroke diesel engine crankshaft journal is damaged by a bearing or mechanical failure an owner or operator has only two options. Dismantle the engine and exchange the crankshaft
or repair on-site.
MME can completely refurbish a severely damaged crankshaft journal with outside diameters from 170mm up to 1020mm normally within a relatively short period of time. This automatically means a tremendous saving in costs regarding the operational down time of their engine since dismantling and heavy transport of the damaged equipment is not necessary.
Together with the Class-approved annealing process, the success rate of crankshaft journal repair is 100% (within the maximum given reduction diameter limit set by the OEM).
After the MME engineer has performed a full damage assessment with NDT, a clear plan of repair and estimated time schedule is provided, to ensure the customer can plan when normal operation of the engine can resume.
